Xinhua, March 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least one person was killed and two others injured after a military helicopter crashed Tuesday near Kiev, authorities said.

The MI-24 helicopter went down at around 2 p.m. local time (1200 GMT) near the town of Vasilkiv, 30 km south of the Ukrainian capital, the Interior Ministry said, without giving further details.

According to local media, the helicopter was en route from the central Poltava region to the neighboring Zhytomyr regio and was carrying three Ukrainian military officers at the time. One of them, a lieutenant, was killed on the spot, while two others -- a captain and a major were taken to hospital with severe conditions.

An investigation into the crash is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Endi
