Slovak gov't sends plane to evacuate Children's Folk Group from Tunisia

Xinhua, March 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Slovak Children's Folk Group (DFS) will terminate their stay in Tunisia prematurely, with the government sending an aircraft to pick up the children from the country shaken by a terorrist attack earlier this week, local news agency reported on Thursday.

The transport has been arranged by the Slovak Interior Ministry in cooperation with the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry, confirmed Interior Ministry spokesman Peter Lazarov.

"At approximately 22:35 (2135 GMT), the 30-member children's group will be flown from the area targeted by the terrorist attack to Bratislava's M.R. Stefanik Airport," added Lazarov.

According to Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Peter Stano, none of the group is harmed. Slovak nationals are being advised by the European and Foreign Affairs Ministry not to travel to Tunis until further notice.

On Wednesday, during an assault against the Bardu Museum in Tunisia, militants shot dead 23 people, mostly foreign tourists. The attack occurred during the time when DFS members arrived to visit the Tunisian metropolis Tunis. Endit
