Botswana women ready for South Africa in Africa Games qualifier

Xinhua, March 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Botswana's women soccer team are gearing up for a tough test against neighboring South Africa in the qualifiers of the 2015 Africa Games.

South Africa was expected to arrive in Botswana on Thursday afternoon ahead of the first leg match of the second round of the qualifiers to be played on Saturday afternoon.

Botswana proceeded to the second round of the qualifiers after eliminating Madagascar 3-2 on aggregate of a two-legged tie.

The visitors will hold an upper hand going into the tie as they just returned from Cyprus where they took part in the Cyprus women 's cup where they faced tougher opposition like Belgium, Finland and Mexico.

Meanwhile Botswana coach Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang was not deterred about their opposition's superiority saying they have been preparing very hard for the tie.

She told the media on Thursday they are looking forward to facing the South Africans and beating them to progress further in the qualifiers. She said they will not be read much into previous games involving the two sides as they have now assembled a very determined, young team that has potential to go far.

Botswana will however have to do without the services of hardworking midfielder Phatsimo Bosa who has been suspended during the second leg match against Madagascar in Gaborone. Endite
