The ABS said new sales grew by 2.9 percent in February, with 95, 737 vehicles sold in seasonally adjusted terms.

It was the most cars sold in a month since December 2013, with sales up 4.1 percent from a year ago.

The sports utility vehicle class, which includes four-wheel drives, led the way with a 10.5 percent rise in sales.
