Tokyo shares end mixed by midday

Tokyo shares ended the morning session mixed Monday, with the Nikkei stocks index keeping its uptrend on hopes for spring wage hike, while the sentiment was held by caution ahead of a Bank of Japan policy decision.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 37.70 points, or 0.20 percent, from Friday to 19,291.95.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.16 points, or 0.01 percent, to 1,560.17. Endi
