Myanmar military convoy ambushed by Kokang ethnic army

Xinhua, March 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Myanmar military convoy has been ambushed by the Kokang ethnic army near Lonhtan, Laukkai in the northeastern Shan state over the weekend, the ruling party's Union Daily reported Monday.

During the engagement, three from the government troops were wounded, while 10 from the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) died, the report said.

As the military continues to comb the Laukkai area, engagements with the MNDAA occurred almost on a daily basis, the report added.

The government terms the MNDAA as the Kokang renegade group.

The Myanmar military also claimed that it has captured some more strategic hills during its air strike against the Kokang ethnic army over last week. Endi
