sports) Zambian trainer rue elimination from Africa Youth Championships

Xinhua, March 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Head coach of the Zambia under-20 national soccer team Hector Chilombo on Friday expressed sadness over the team's elimination from the 2015 Senegal Africa Youth Championships.

"I am very disappointed what would have been our second goal was disallowed. It is painful to exit in such a way," the trainer said, according to a statement posted on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) website.

The loss, he said, was painful especially that his team had taken command of the game and managed to score as early as on the second minute.

The Zambian trainer is however happy that the talent exhibited by the boys is a true testimony that Zambia has a bright future.

The junior Chipolopolo lost to Ghana 2-1 during the game played at Caroline Faye Stadium. Zambia scored first through Dave Daka.

With this result, Zambia is out of the tournament and their last game against South Africa on Sunday is merely a formality. South Africa has also been eliminated from the tournament after losing to Mali. Endite
