France pumps 8 mln Euros to boost Zambia's agriculture and waste management

France has pumped 8 million Euros to boost production in Zambia's agricultural sector and improve the country's waste management program, a farmers' body announced on Friday.

France Ambassador to Zambia Emanuel Cohet said his government was working on a program to help boost Zambia's agricultural production and waste management in bigger cities, according to a statement posted on the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) website.

The French envoy made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the farmers' body Evelyn Nguleka and senior management officials.

France, he said, was interested in increasing investment in agriculture and trade as well as maintaining international cooperation with Zambia. "We have planned for delegation to visit Zambia during the course of the year. First it would be an agriculture delegation, followed by a trade and investment delegation. The agriculture delegation had expressed keen interest in the upcoming farming blocs in Zambia," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of the famers' body said there is need to explore possibilities of cooperation with French banks on financing agriculture and other investment areas in Zambia.

The farmers' body, she said, was keen to work with France to boost the agriculture sector. Endi
