U.S. budget deficit narrows in February

The budget deficit of the United States shrank in February, the latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department showed Thursday.

The federal deficit in February was 192.3 billion U.S. dollars, down from a deficit of 193.5 billion dollars a year ago.

The government deficit has totaled 387 billion dollars since the onset of the 2015 fiscal year which began on Oct. 1, 2014, up 2.7 percent from a deficit of 376.4 billion dollars during the first five months of the 2014 fiscal year.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) predicted that the budget deficit in the 2015 fiscal year will total 486 billion U.S. dollars, and the deficit as a share of gross domestic product in this fiscal year will be lowest since 2007. Endite
