Egypt beats Nigeria to win U-21 ITTF table tennis world tour

Egypt's Shady Magdy defeated Nigeria 's Onaolapo Ojo 3-2 to win U21 men's singles of the Lagos Open, a stop of International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour.

Ojo, who was the defending champion, said it was sad to lose the title which he had hoped to hold on to. "Lesson is learnt and I would go back to work on my mistakes," he said.

The women's category was an Egyptian affair where the defending champion, Dina Meshref defeated Yousra Helmy by 11-7, 13-11, 11-8.

The competition, which runs March 10-14, is holding at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos. A total of 81 players from 11 countries and regions are participating.

This is the third year Nigeria has hosted the competition which has a total prize money of 46,000 U.S. dollars. Endite
