The Uganda Sand Cranes have entered residential camp ahead of their first leg clash against Ghana Black Sharks in the 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Beach Soccer Championship qualifier on Sunday.
Ahmed Hussein, the Uganda FA spokesman said on Thursday that the team handled by Haruna Kebba has entered residential ahead of the match to take place at the Entebbe Sports Beach.
"We call upon Ugandans who support sports to come to Entebbe in big numbers to give the beach soccer team support as they face the more experienced team of Ghana," Hussein said.
Nine teams were exempted from the first round of the qualifiers basing on their participation in the 2013 championships which was hosted in Jadida, Morocco as well as their official ranking. Uganda picked a walk over Cameroon who pulled out in the first round of the qualifiers.
Uganda is among the 19 countries that entered the qualifiers. The winner between the Uganda Sand Cranes and Ghana will join hosts Seychelles and nine other nations for the final tournament slated for next month.
"Although it is our first time to participate in the beach soccer qualifiers for Africa, we are happy that the players are doing well. The International friendly match away to Zanzibar in January also helped us get exposure," team coach Kebba said.
