Seoul shares ended lower on Thursday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 10.24 points, or 0.52 percent, to 1,970.59 at the close. Trading volume stood at 379.59 million shares worth 6.28 trillion won (5.57 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market improved by Thursday's close and ended three days of declines.
At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index gained 57 points, or 0.98 percent, to 5,850.2 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 52.7 points, or 0.91 percent, to 5,816.

TOKYO -- Tokyo shares ended sharply higher Thursday with its benchmark Nikkei stocks index hitting a nearly 15-year higher due to optimism toward the Japanese economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average skyrocketed 267.59 points, or 1.43 percent, from Wednesday at 18,991.11, after climbing as high as 19,008.13 points, the highest intraday level since April, 2000.
The turnover was about 2,522.6 billion yen (about 20.74 billion U.S. dollars).

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.76 percent Thursday with the weighted index up 72.82 points at 9,596.00, according to news reaching here from Taipei.
Turnover totaled 95.77 billion new Taiwan dollars (3.02 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Thursday up 2.37 percent against the previous trading day.
