84 pct of Austrians coffee drinkers: survey

Xinhua, March 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

A new survey found that 84.1 percent of Austrians drink coffee at least occasionally.

Over two-thirds of the 600 respondents aged between 14 and 65 years of age said taste is the most important factor for their coffee, while 53.8 per cent also put an emphasis on quality. A further 40 percent also attached importance to smell.

Price of coffee factored in further back in fourth place in terms of importance to consumers.

From the younger generation of coffee drinkers aged 14 to 29, 27.6 percent said that sustainability of coffee production was also of great importance, and 26.7 put a greater emphasis on organically-grown coffee.

"You can see that the younger people want to drink their coffee with a good conscience," Marketagent.com CEO Thomas Schwabl said regarding the results at a press conference in Vienna on Wednesday. Endit
