Gov't debt reaches 80 pct of GDP in Croatia

The debt of the Croatian government reached 80 percent of GDP by the end of November 2014, hitting record highs, local media reported Wednesday.
Debt has grown to 262.4 billion kuna (37.9 billion U.S. dollars), marking a 6.5 percent increase compared with the same period in 2013, according to figures of the Croatian National Bank.
Out of the total debt, 160.6 billion kuna, or 61.2 percent, is owed to internal creditors, while 101.7 billion kuna, or 38.8 percent, is owed to external creditors.
The central government accounted for 257.2 billion kuna or 98 percent of total debt. Local government and social security funds accounted for 5.2 billion kuna, the remaining 2 percent of debt. (1 U.S. dollar = 6.92 kuna) Endit
