German benchmark DAX index rises 0.98 pct on Wednesday

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday gained 110.02 points, or 0.98 percent, and closed at 11,390.38 points.

Daimler AG advanced the most by 2.79 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG and the chemical group Merck KGaA rose by 2.42 percent and 2.24 percent.BMW AG St and the semiconductor producer Infineon Technologies AG followed with an increase by 1.80 percent and 1.60 percent.

Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz dropped the most by 0.75 percent. Commerzbank AG,Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the utilities supplier RWE AG and ThyssenKrupp AG fell by 0.55 percent, 0.38 percent,0.33 percent and 0.21 percent respectively.

The turnover stood at 3.74 billion euros (around 4.16 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 334.81 million euros (around 372.44 million U.S. dollars). Endit
