Xinhua, March 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Michelle Obama, spouse of U.S. President Barack Obama, will pay a visit to Cambodia later in March, according to a news statement from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

"The Royal Government of Cambodia wishes to cordially welcome her visit and hopes the important visit will also strengthen bond of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and the United States of America," said the statement.

According to a White House press release sent to Cambodian media by the U.S. embassy on Tuesday, Michelle Obama will visit Japan before traveling to Cambodia.

"She will visit Tokyo on March 18 to March 19, Kyoto on March 20, and Siem Reap (in Cambodia) on March 21-22," said the release.

"In Cambodia, Mrs. Obama and Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet will see up close how community-driven solutions are changing girls' lives, a key component of the Let Girls Learn Peace Corps program," said the press release. Endi
