Rockets hold off Cavaliers in overtime

Xinhua, March 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Houston Rockets outlasted the Cleveland Cavaliers in overtime 105-103 Sunday night at Toyota Center, their fifth straight win at home court.

Both teams had a tight first half, with Houston leading by three points by halftime. They were able to boost that lead to double digits temporarily in the third quarter. The Cavaliers responded with a few runs, but the Rockets still had an eight-point lead at the end of that quarter.

After dipping in several 3-pointers, the Cavaliers quickly erased the deficit. The two teams struggled to take a lead, but it never went without the reach of one another. As LeBron James missed the last shot, the game was pulled into overtime.

The Cavaliers had their chances but James missed a couple of free throws with 4.2 seconds remaining, helping the Rockets to hold on to their final victory.

James Harden grabbed 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Houston, while his MVP competitor James had 37 points for Cleveland. It was the Rockets' fifth consecutive win and the Cavaliers' second straight loss. Endi
