Newly registered FDI in Vietnam down by 22.5 pct: media

Newly registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam witnessed a decrease by 22.5 percent in the first two months of 2015, compared with the same period of last year, local media quoted the authority on Monday as saying.
Total newly licensed and added FDI in Vietnam as of Feb. 20 reached 1.192 billion U.S. dollars, down by 22.5 percent year-on- year, local Bao Dau Tu (Vietnam Investment Review), an online newspaper under the ministry of planning and investment (MPI) on Monday quoted a report by MPI's Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) as saying.
According to the February report, in the first two months, a total of 148 FDI projects were newly licensed with registered capital of 712.29 million U.S. dollars, up 21.3 percent in volume and down 14.3 percent in value year-on-year.
Meanwhile, some 480.5 million U.S. dollars was added to 58 existing projects, down 32.2 percent in value and up 41.5 percent in volume year-on-year. Endi
