Cambodian, Laos defense ministers pledge to bolster ties, cooperation

Cambodian Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh said here Monday that had met with his visiting Laos counterpart Lt. Gen. Sengnuan Saiyalath, and they agreed to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation for mutual benefits.

"We are neighboring countries, so it is very important for us to strengthen cooperation along the border so as to ensure security and safety for the peoples of the two countries," he said.

"We also agreed to exchange information relevant to security issues," he added.

The two sides also agreed to exchange visits of defense delegates at all levels in order to share experiences and expertise, Tea Banh said.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation a the end of the two ministers' meeting.

Lt. Gen. Sengnuan Saiyalath arrived in Cambodia on Saturday for a four-day official visit. Endi
