The accident took place near the starting point of the 82 km second leg of the race, which started at La Nga in Dong Nai province, on Sunday. To arrive at the starting point, cyclists, coaches and logistic staff had to move by vehicles, under the escort of a motorbike team, from Binh Duong province, where the first leg of the race was held.

Cyclists later all completed their race.
