France's Hollande visits Philippines with climate change on agenda

Xinhua, February 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday began a state visit to the Philippines to boost bilateral cooperation and discuss ways to fight climate change ahead of Paris international gathering by year-end.

At the invitation of Philippines' President Benigno Aquino III, Hollande was scheduled to visit Manila and Guiuan (Samar Island) during his three-day visit starting from Feb. 25, his office said in a communique.

The first visit made by a French head of state to the southeast Asian country will "help strengthen bilateral relationship and is part of preparation of the Climate Conference in Paris (COP21) in December 2015," it added. Endit
