Both the Ukrainian government and the pro-independence insurgents failed to start a withdrawal of their heavy weapons from the front line in eastern Ukraine as agreed, official reports showed Monday.

GENEVA -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that the next round of nuclear talks between Iranian negotiators and representatives of the P5+1 group will be held on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva next week, according to Iranian state media Press TV.

KHARTOUM -- Three civilians were killed on Monday and four others seriously injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen in Sudan's East Darfur State, the Paris-based Sudan Tribune reported at its website.

"Gunmen riding on camels opened fire at a gathering of people during a marriage celebration at Al-Qirfa area of Adila locality in East Darfur State which resulted in the killing of three people and serious injuring of four others," the report said. (Sudan-Attack)

TEHRAN -- Iran's top diplomat cautioned on Monday that Tehran and the world powers still have a long way to go before reaching a comprehensive nuclear deal despite progress made in recent nuclear talks.

DAMASCUS -- The Islamic State (IS) militants on Monday kidnapped 56 Syrian Christians of the Assyrian minority in a northern Syrian province, a monitoring group reported.

The Assyrians were snatched from the town of Tal Shamiram in the countryside of the predominantly-Kurdish city of Hasaka, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, citing sources. (Syria-Kidnapping-IS) Endi
