Ireland said on Monday it will send 27 cabinet ministers to promote Ireland at over 100 business events in 27 countries during this year's St. Patrick's Day.

At a ceremony in Dublin, Irish Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan and Jobs Minister Richard Bruton launched this year's St. Patrick's Day program of ministerial-led events, targeting trade and investment for Ireland in 2015.

"This year's schedule of travel reflects the importance of both new and established markets, and reflects also the recent expansion of the embassy network, diaspora hubs, and Ireland's work in development cooperation," Flanagan said.

Last year's program reached audiences of over 353,000 directly and 80 million through media coverage, he said.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on March 17, honoring the Irish patron saint, St. Patrick. The celebrations are largely Irish culture themed and typically consist of wearing green, parades, and drinking.

People all over the world celebrate St. Patrick's Day, especially places with large Irish-American communities. Endit
