Poland supreme audit office to begin adapting to EU standards

Xinhua, February 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Polish Supreme Audit Office (SAI) on Monday announced it was launching its international cooperation to adapt to EU standards.

The office cooperation will also cover institutions from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. Polish auditors will share their experience in the audit of EU funds, fight corruption and review public finances.

The declaration of cooperation in this area was signed in the Polish parliament on Monday, also marking 96 years since the creation of the SAI.

Attending Monday's signing ceremony were Polish Speaker of Sejm Radoslaw Sikorski, SAI chairman Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and representatives of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

An international seminar discussing issues of settling and auditing EU funds will be held in Warsaw later in 2015, including participants from the European Court of Auditors, other Baltic countries and the Visegrad Group.

SAI, created in 1919, is an independent state audit body, whose mission is to safeguard public spending, as well as promote economic efficiency and effectiveness in the public sector. Endit
