-- After the separatists conquered the transportation hub of Debaltseve in eastern Ukraine, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko ordered the withdrawal of its troops from the city. Kiev is now urging arms supplies from the West. "We urgently need military support from the international community, particularly the countries of the European Union," said the EU Ambassador of Ukraine to Brussels, Konstiantin Jelisieiev.

-- Train passengers in Germany must be prepared for strike again, as German train drivers union GDL warned on Wednesday evening of further walkouts. However, GDL chief Claus Weselsky disclosed initially no information about the date and duration of the strike. A spokesperson of Weselsky said that the strike will not start on this Wednesday and Thursday and the union will give sufficient notice concerning the date.
