Two separate groups of protestors on Wednesday gathered here to express their dissatisfactions over food safety and a building that may compromise the safety of a dam on the Artificial Lake of Tirana.
Representatives of several social groups organized a protest over the incompetence of the National Food Authority, saying food products with fake expiration dates are found sold to consumers, according to the Albanian Daily News.
"Food safety is not guaranteed and it remains the most unpunished crime. We demand tougher controls over food products and professionalism from the inspectors of the National Food Authority," Erion Kristo, a protestor said.
In the meantime, a group of environmentalists gathered in front of the Albanian Prime Minister's Office to protest against the construction of a 17-story building near the dam of the Artificial Lake of Tirana, as experts believed that the building would jeopardize the water conservancy facility.
