Seventeen police officers with Abbotsford Police Department in west Canada's British Columbia have been under investigation for allegations of misconduct, the Office of the Police Complaints Commission (OPCC) in B.C. said in a statement released Wednesday.

The OPCC said the probe started with allegations of criminal activity against Constable Christopher Nicholson that were investigated by the Vancouver Police Department. Meanwhile, 16 other officers in Abbotsford were also under Vancouver Police Department investigation for allegations related to the integrity of statements used in a number of criminal cases to obtain search warrants.

Abbotsford is a city about 100 km southeast of Vancouver. OPCC said the allegations were serious and included accusations of corrupt practice, deceit and neglect of duty.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the department has been working cooperatively with the OPCC investigation. The OPCC promised to release a summary report to the public once its investigation was completed. Endite
