Lithuania tightens regulations on wearing military uniforms

Xinhua, February 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The government of Lithuania on Wednesday approved stricter legislation to govern the wearing of military uniforms.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, after the legislation is implemented, non-military personnel are also prohibited from wearing any separate parts of military uniform or any kind of marks that could be visually recognized as the outfit of the Lithuanian National Defense.

A new regulation proposes increasing fines for illicit wearing of military uniforms, its separate parts or distinctive marks emblems.

"The proposed regulation has been approved in response to the Ukrainian experience and in trying to prevent members of foreign military forces from illegal action during peacetime," the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense said in a statement.

The ministry added that the proposed legislation is aimed at protecting the society from threats caused by persons wearing military uniform without permission. Endit
