Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Tuesday urged a United Nations resolution giving the green light to an international coalition's operation in Libya where Islamist fighters threaten to rock the region's security.
Speaking to the local broadcaster Europe1 al-Sisi said: "There is no other choice, taking into account the accord of the Libyan people and government and that they call on us to act."
On Monday, Egypt conducted air-strikes against Islamic State (IS) positions in Libya a day after the militant group released a video purportedly showing the beheading of 21 Egyptians in the neighboring country.
"We do not wish that Egypt intervene. We do not want to act inside Libyan border with respect to Libya's sovereignty and people but what has happened is a monstrous crime," Egyptian leader added.
In an interview aired on Tuesday, al-Sisi noted Egypt's action in Libya was "a form of self-defense", adding that "we need to do it again, and all of us together."
