Cambodia bans Kazantip music festival for concerns over sexy activities

Xinhua, February 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodia has decided to ban Kazantip, a wild Eastern European music festival, which is scheduled to begin from Feb. 18 to 28 on Koh Puos island off the coast of Preah Sihanouk province, a senior official confirmed on Tuesday.

Kazantip, which originated in Crimea before relocating to Georgia last year due to conflict in the region, was prohibited in Cambodia for its sexy activities, said Chhin Seng Nguon, deputy governor of Preah Sihanouk province.

"The Provincial Hall has issued a letter to prohibit the organizers from holding such music festival on the island because it features sexy and pornographic activities that are against Cambodian culture and traditions," he told Xinhua over telephone.

He said such debauched festival is also contrary to Cambodia's cultural and ecological tourism policy.

According to the official, authorities have been deployed on the island to enforce the prohibition order.

"If the organizers violate the ban to proceed with the festival on Wednesday, our forces will take legal action against them," he said. Endi
