1 death, 7 new MERS cases reported in Saudi Arabia

Xinhua, February 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Saudi Arabia registered Friday a death and seven new Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) corona virus cases, the Health Ministry said.

It was the third day in a row on which new cases of the epidemics were reported. Seven cases were reported Thursday and five on Wednesday.

Since the reporting of the first case in 2012, Saudi Arabia has reported 877 cases, including 370 deaths. Twenty-five cases are currently in hospital.

The possible increase was attributed to the changing and cold weather in the country that registeres the most corona virus cases in the world.

A World Health Organization (WHO) delegation will visit Saudi Arabia in the coming days to give instructions. Endit
