One person was killed and six others injured as a bomb targeted the vehicle of a member of provincial council in Nangarhar's provincial capital Jalalabad city 120 km east of Kabul on Tuesday, a local official said.

"A bomb targeted the vehicle of Nangarhar provincial council member, Angiza Shinwari at 01:30 p.m. local time today in Jalalabad city, killing one person and injuring six others including Shinwari," the official told Xinhua, but declined to be identified, saying authorized officials would brief the media after investigation.

Spokesman for Nangarhar provincial government Ahmad Zia Abdulzai in talks with reporters also confirmed the blast, saying investigation has been initiated into the case.
