Seven Rwandans killed in fatal bus accident in Uganda

Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

A passenger bus travelling from Ugandan to Rwanda overturned early Friday morning, killing seven Rwanda nationals and wounding several others, police sources confirmed here.

Scores of Rwandans have crossed into Uganda to ascertain whether their relatives were among those killed when the bus collided with a truck in western Uganda early Friday.

The accident took place in Mpingi district near the Ugandan capital Kampama, the Rwandan police said, adding that the accident happened after the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a lorry before falling into the ravine.

Three people died on the spot and four more succumbed at a neighboring hospital.

Medical staff said several injured passengers are being transferred to Rwanda for getting appropriate treatment.

This is the most serious accident in the region this year, the police said.

In the meanwhile, the police are still investigating the fatal accident. Endi
