China's Ma Long, Mu Zi secure 2015 table tennis worlds tickets

Xinhua, February 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ma Long and Mu Zi got the second tickets among men's and women's players respectively as five-day Chinese team scrimmage for 2015 World Table Tennis Championships ended here on Friday.

Ma beat tough opponent Zhang Jike, who clamied titles in all three major tournaments - World Championships, World Cup and the Olympics, in the men's final 11-5, 13-15, 11-5, 16-14.

"We respected each other and played to our best today. The win gave me a boost in my confidence," said Ma.

In the women's final, Mu Zi edged world No. 1 Ding Ning 9-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 14-12.

"She was tough even though she trailed, and did well on keeping her mentality," Ding commented on her opponent's performance.

In the women's ticket decider against last stage runner-up Wu Yang, Mu Zi continued her hot momentum as she had a comfortable 11-8, 11-2, 11-5 win.

Mu Zi contributed her success to maturity during the past two years, while shrugging off any expectation towards the table tennis worlds, which will run from April 26 to May 3 in Suzhou.

"I didn't think too much about that now," she said. Endi
