Xinhua, February 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

The European Union (EU) has offered 20 million U.S. dollars to support the revival of agriculture in Guinea Bissau, an official source said Thursday.

An agreement in this regard was signed on Wednesday in Bissau by Guinea Bissau's Finance Minister Geraldo Martins and head of EU delegation Vitor Madeira Santos.

The EU representative said the "four-year program will contribute to improvement of living conditions for Guinea Bissau rural population."

"The revival of agriculture is one of the government's strategy to develop the country," the finance minister said.

Part of the funds will equally be used for funding micro- projects for the benefit of youths, women and farmers' associations. Other funds will equally be used for rehabilitation of rural roads. Endi
