Berlinale 2015 opens with star-studded opening gala

Berlinale Festival Director Dieter Kosslick and Jury President Darren Aronofsky as well as countless movie stars opened the 65th Berlin International Film Festival at the Berlinale Palast on Thursday night.
In addtion to Darren Aronofsky, all the International Jury, including Daniel Bruehl, Bong Joon-ho, Martha De Laurentiis, Claudia Llosa, Audrey Tautou, Matthew Weiner were introduced to the public during the Opening Gala.
Renowned actors such as David Kross, Audrey Tautou and Juliette Binoche also strolled across the red carpet, encountering excited fans and imbuing the festival and Berlin with a flair of glamour.
Following the opening gala, Isabel Coixet's Nobody Wants the Night had its world premiere. In this drama, Juliette Binoche plays a self-confident and bold wife of famous Arctic explorer Robert Peary who embarks on a dangerous journey in pursuit of her husband who is seeking a route to the North Pole in 1908.
"Isabel Coixet shows an impressive and sensitive portrait of two women in an extreme situation," said festival director Dieter Kosslick.
The Best First Feature Award Jury as well as other international and German prominent figures also walked down the red carpet on Thursday night.
From Feb. 5 to 15, a total of 441 films from 72 countries and regions will be screened at the festival, among which 19 films will run for the Golden and Silver Bears. Endit
