Hertha Berlin sack coach Jos Luhukay with immediate effect

Relegation threatened Hertha Berlin part company with coach Jos Luhukay and his assistants, the Bundesliga side announced in an official statement on Thursday.

The club reacted on the poor performances of Jos Luhukay's men, who lost 1-0 to Leverkusen, suffering their third straight loss without scoring a goal. As a consequence, the "Hauptstadclub" slumped on the penultimate position of the Bundesliga table with just 18 points from 19 games.

The 51-year-old Dutchman joined Berlin on June 2012 to help the second division side to gain promotion for Germany's top flight one year later.

For now Berlin's record appearance maker and youth coach Pal Dardai will take the helm alongside of Rainer Widmayer. The new coaching staff encounters 12th placed Mainz on Saturday at the 20th round of Bundesliga. Endite
