Czech FM disagrees with weapons deliveries to Ukraine

Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek said on Thursday that he disagreed with the weapons deliveries from NATO countries to Ukraine as asked by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

He said such deliveries deemed play with fire, local media reported.

Zaoralek said the idea of arms deliveries to Ukraine which is supported by Supreme Allied Commander Europe Philip Breedlove, seems quite dangerous to him, the current situation in Ukraine is riskier than it was during the Cold War.

"Some may think that we are in a situation that is less dangerous than the Cold War, but I sometimes feel that the current situation may be more riskier than the Cold War," Zaoralek was quoted as saying.

Zaoralek said there were certain methods of both sides' providing information on their intentions in the Cold War, but this is no longer true. He warned "We may be in a situation that may be even more unpredictable than at that time."

Zaoralek said the suggested arms deliveries to Ukraine is "a play with fire". He said if the West began sending advanced military systems to Kiev, it would have to send experts to serve them. Zaoralek said he welcomed the Wednesday statement by the White House that dismissed such deliberations. Endit
