Czech Republic pledges support for BiH's EU integration

Xinhua, February 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jan Hamacek, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Czech Republic, pledged here on Wednesday to support the EU path of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

"If there is logic to expand the European Union anywhere, then it is this region. When Czech Republic went through the EU accession process, it had support from other countries. We promised our support to BiH on its European path," said Hamacek during a meeting with his BiH counterpart Sefik Dzaferovic.

He noted the two countries enjoyed friendly relations, adding that greater presence of investors from the Czech Republic would help reduce unemployment in BiH.

Dzaferovic, meanwhile, said the two agreed to improve parliamentary cooperation.

"Our foreign policy priority is membership in the EU and NATO, and the Czech Republic is ready to fully support and assist BiH on that path. We also talked about economic cooperation," said Dzaferovic.

They expressed the need to complete procedures to sign bilateral agreements in agricultural, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation. Endit
