China's VP meets South African ruling party delegation

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Wednesday met with a delegation from the African National Congress(ANC), the ruling party of South Africa.

Li said China-South Africa relations now stand at a new starting point, calling for both countries to implement the strategic consensus reached by the head of state of the two countries, according to an official statement released after the meeting.

Li called on the Communist Party of China (CPC) and ANC to share more experience on party building and state governance and build China-South Africa relations into an all-round strategic partnership, which features political mutual trust,economic mutual benefit, people-to-people exchanges and security support, the statement said.

Secretary General of the ANC Gwede Mantashe, who is leading a six-member delegation to China, reviewed the close relations between the CPC and ANC, saying the two parties support each other and treat each other sincerely.

Mantashe said the ANC would like to learn from the CPC on improving capability of governance and boosting reforms.

After Beijing, Mantashe and his delegation will travel to the country' s boom city of Shenzhen in south China.

They will conclude their China tour on Saturday. Endit
