China's Li Xiaoxia to miss table tennis worlds

Xinhua, February 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

World's No. 3 Li Xiaoxia failed to get the ticket for 2015 World Table Tennis Championships after losing to Mu Zi 3-1 in the Chinese women's team scrimmage here on Wednesday.

Li won the first game with 11-5, before Mu Zi came back to secure the win with 11-7, 13-11 and 11-9.

"I was satisfied with my performance today," Li said.

"I didn't have enough training in last three months, and I didn't get on well with new material ball," added Li.

Mu Zi will meet Feng Yalan in Thursday's semifinals of the scrimmage, which is featuring eight women players. Feng shocked Zhu Yuling 3-1. The other semifinal will be played between Ding Ning and Chen Meng.

In the men's matches, runner-up of stage one Ma Long upset Cui Qinglei by 3-1, and Xu Xin beat Liang Jingkun 3-0. Ma and Xu will meet in semifinals.

"We are familiar with each other. Both of us played well today," Ma commented on his match with Cui. Endi
