Jordan says confident to revenge for killing of pilot

Xinhua, February 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordan's Lower House on Wednesday said it is confident the Jordanian army will avenge on the Islamic State (IS) who killed the Jordanian pilot Muazth al-Kassasbeh.

In a statement, the Lower House condemned the killing of the pilot and described the terrorist act a heinous murder. It added the IS has nothing to do with Islam.

At Wednesday dawn, Jordan hanged two Iraqi prisoners affiliated to the IS after it announced the Jordanian pilot was burned to death, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Sajida Rishawi, one of the executed, was sentenced to death in 2005 for trying to launch a suicide bomb attack in Amman. Rishawi had close relation to Abu Musab Zarqawi, the founder of the IS.

Another prisoner hanged was Ziad Karbuli, who was a senior al-Qaida member and was convicted of terrorism acts in 2007.

The executions came after a video in which showed the IS militants killed the Jordanian pilot by burning him alive in a cage.

The Jordanian government and army on Tuesday vowed to retaliate the killing of the pilot.

Jordanian political parties condemned the killing and the pilot was labeled as a martyr and hero. Endit
