Afghan forces kill 14 militants including 3 foreigners: official

Afghan national army units in coordination with police have killed over a dozen Taliban militants and injured eight others in Qaisar district of Faryab province with Maimana as its capital 425 km northwest of Kabul over the past two days, army spokesman in the province Mohammad Reza Rezai said Monday. "Units of national army in coordination with police have killed 14 Taliban rebels including three foreign nationals in Qaisar district over the past two days,"Rezai told Xinhua.

Two of the three foreigners, according to the officials are from Uzbekistan and another one from Chechen.

According to Afghan security officials, extremist elements from foreign countries including Pakistan, Arab and central Asian states have been fighting alongside Taliban militants in Afghanistan.

An Afghan security personnel has been killed and three others sustained injuries, the official added. He said that the operations against militants are going on in the district.

Taliban militants who are active in Qaisar district over the past couple of years, have yet to make comment. Endi
