Around 19.5 percent of Portuguese people are at risk of poverty, according to statistics released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Friday.
The INE said that 19.5 percent of Portuguese were living on less than 411 euros (464 U.S. dollars) per month in 2013, a worsening situation than the previous year when the risk of poverty had hit 18.7 percent of Portuguese nationals.
Child poverty rose from 24.4 percent in 2012 to 25.6 percent in 2013, it added.
