France, Poland to strengthen anti-terrorist cooperation

France and Poland will intensify their fight against radicalization, French President Francois Hollande and Polish Prime Minister Eva Kopacz said in a joint statement after a meeting here on Friday.

The use of the internet for the purposes of hatred and violence must be prevented, within the limits set by protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, the two leaders said, adding that illicit content on the internet must be identified more swiftly and taken down.

As part of strengthening border checks at EU external borders, the two governments aim at "rapidly finalizing the framework for an European Passenger Name Record (PNR)."

Apart from implementing measures to share intelligence on various forms of threats, France and Poland also intend to strengthen cooperation with third countries on the issue of terrorism financing.

Both governments pledged to work together in climate cooperation for the success of the Paris Climate Conference 2015, which should reach "a universal, legally binding and comprehensive agreement," the joint statement said.

Friday's consultation is part of the French-Polish cooperation program adopted in November 2013. The next bilateral meetings are scheduled for early 2016 in Poland. Endit
