Visiting Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament Alaeddin Boroujerdi, congratulated the Shiite militant party of Hezbollah on its operation in retaliation to an Israeli airstrike.
Bourouherdi arrived in Lebanon Thursday a day after Hezbollah launched an attack against an Israeli convoy in the occupied Shebaa Farms that left two Israeli troops dead.
He said at Beirut Rafic Hariri airport "The Qoneitra attack demonstrates that the Zionist entity does not have limits to its crimes."
He expressed his "sorrow and pride over the martyrs who fell in the airstrike," saying that Iran will continue to stand by the "Lebanese resistance."
He stressed however that "Iran places great importance on the preservation of security in Lebanon."
Boroujerdi noted "the developments in Lebanon demonstrate unity and understanding among its factions. Iran will continue to support all that bolsters this unity."
He is scheduled to attend a ceremony honoring the Qoneitra victims set for Friday.
Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is expected to make a televised speech on the occasion.
Wednesday's Shebaa Farms operations prompted Israel to shell a number of regions in the South, which led to the killing of a Spanish member of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Endit
