Cambodia on Thursday detained three foreign tourists for producing pornographic photographs at the complex of the Angkor Archeological Park, a world heritage site, the management institution said in a statement.
"The Apsara National Authority, in close cooperation with the Tourism Police Unit and the Heritage Protection Police Unit in Siem Reap province, has prevented three foreign tourists from taking pornographic photos at 11:10 a.m. (local time) on Jan. 29, 2015 at Banteay Kdei temple," the statement said.
It added that after being questioned over this case, the three tourists had confessed and recognized that they were at fault for taking pornographic photographs.
"In the first step, the Apsara National Authority, along with the Tourism Police Unit and the Heritage Protection Police Unit in Siem Reap province, have been preparing to collect information and evidence in order to make a detailed report on this case before taking the next action against them," the statement said without disclosing their nationality.
The Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's largest tourist destination. It is located in Siem Reap province, some 315 km northwest of capital Phnom Penh.
The site received 2.35 million foreign tourists last year, earning a gross revenue of 59.3 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales, according to figures from the Apsara National Authority. Endi
