Austrians consider job environment more important than pay: survey

Xinhua, January 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Austrian workforce values a good working environment more highly than salary when searching for a job, a survey of social networking platform Xing revealed Wednesday.

Of the 509 employees aged between 18 and 65 years who participated in the survey, 74 percent said they place higher value on a positive working atmosphere, compared to 38 percent who considered salary very important.

Considerable differences were found between the sexes, with 85 percent of women preferring a good working environment with positive relations with colleagues and superiors, compared to 65 percent of men.

The behavior of superiors and a work and family life balance were also considered more important than income, both categories recording 53 percent in the survey.

The survey was carried out by Marketagent.com on behalf on Xing and interviews took place between December 2014 and January 2015. Endit
