U.S. durable goods orders continue falling in December

Xinhua, January 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

New orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods continued falling in December against the background of weak global growth, the U.S. Commerce Department reported on Tuesday.

Orders for durable goods decreased 3.4 percent in December from a month ago to 230.5 billion U.S. dollars, following a 2.1 percent drop in November, it said.

Orders for transportation equipment plunged 9.2 percent to 66.7 billion U.S. dollars.

Excluding the volatile transportation sector, new orders for manufactured durable goods decreased 0.8 percent.

Some analysts said slowing global economy, strong dollar and low oil prices have made businesses cautious about new investments. Endite
