Bahrain police probes shooting attack near security vehicle

Xinhua, January 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

A video clip circulated on social networks showing an individual getting injured while close to a security vehicle and probe was launched by Bahrain's Ombudsman's Office on Wednesday.

The video depicts a man getting shot in the face as he approached a police vehicle whilst holding the picture of opposition leader Ali Salman.

The Ombudsman's Office has encouraged anyone with information about the incident to get in touch with the Office which guarantees privacy, in a statement on Bahrain News Agency.

It stressed that it would take the necessary legal steps pending investigation results and as per appropriate measures.

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry launched an inquiry into the incident, according to a tweet it sent out on its twitter account. It also urged people to impart any information they might have by contacting the nearest police station.

Salman's arrest last month provoked daily violent protests demanding his release. He will be on trial in court on January 28 charged with seeking regime change, collaborating with foreign powers and inciting violence. Endit
